Aerocom offers engineered hose couplings consisting of a two-part crimp system, hose inserts and crimp collars, that can be used with a variety of hose crimping equipment. These Aerocom designed custom hose fittings can be used on a multitude of SAE, DIN-EN and ISO standard hoses and can also be crimped on a wide range of hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial hoses. Standard fitting terminations include NPT, JIC, SAE, ORB, ORFS, BSPP and metric threads, available in straight, 45 and 90º elbow fittings. Additional coupler styles such as Code 61/ Code 62 flanges, tube ends, and other custom hose fittings are also available.
We use high quality SS316L in the production and inventory of our hydraulic hose fittings. Our pressure connections are available in custom made-to-order materials such as hastelloy, inconel, and other exotic materials. We also fabricate hose assemblies, to your specifications, using any of these stainless steel couplings. Our experts are happy to help you find the right combination of hose and fittings for your project.
Stainless steel is inert to practically all commercial chemicals, acids, alcohols, coolants, elastomers, petroleum compounds, solvents vinyl’s, synthetic lubricants and hydraulic fluids. It is also impervious to atmospheric conditions. It will therefore not rust or deteriorate over time even in challenging environments and most importantly will not break down and contaminate the application material, fluid or gas.
Stainless steel 316 has been approved by the FDA and other governmental organizations for use in food handling and pharmaceutical applications. Stainless steel 316 is more resistant than 304 to salt (which is found in most foods). It is easy to clean and sterilize which makes it the perfect material for these applications.
Stainless Steel 316L is the standard material for our adapters and hose couplings. We can also provide our flexible metal hose assemblies with SS316 braid and hose. We have selected this material because of its combined chemical and mechanical properties that make it the best material for your specialized applications.
Our 250 series are two-piece (insert & ferrule) non-skive crimp couplings system. These are designed for 1 and 2 wire hose of SAE, DIN-EN and ISO standards from 1/4″– 2″.
Our heavy-duty 450 series are two-piece (insert & ferrule) SS316 crimp couplings designed for 4 wire multi-spiral style hoses. It is a convenient non-skive hose ferrule design.
Our 150 series are easy-to-use push-lock hose couplings for low-pressure applications, sizes from 1/4″ – 1″. Installation is simple and does not require ferrules or clamps when used with “Push-Lock” type hose.
Aerocom’s butt weld 710 series, weld-on couplings, come prepped and ready to weld onto ¼” to 2” flexible metal hose. The most commonly used stainless steel 316L fitting terminations in inventory include female JIC and male NPT.

Aerocom has designed different types of hose fittings which will provide the best type of hose to fitting connection for your hose. We have some for 1 or 2 wire hose (250 Series), some for 4 wire hose (450 series) and others for different types of hose. In order to ensure the best hose to fitting seal, please contact our sales department who will be able to guide you to the best fittings for your application.
Aerocom can generally provide you with the crimp specs for our fittings. We will need to know the type (brand) of hose that you are using, the hose Outside Diameter, along with the fittings that you are using.
The connection between the insert and collar, called the doglock, is critical to ensure safe sealing. Aerocom inserts are designed to connect with their corresponding collars in order to prevent blowouts and damage to the hose. It is critical to use the correct collar with the mating insert. See blog on doglocks
JIC stands for Joint Industry Council. JIC threads are used for high pressure applications (up to 10,000 psi) with hydraulic connectors for fuel systems and fluid management. They use Unified National Fine (UNF) straight threads, paired with a 37° flare seating surface.
Aerocom offers a ‘push-lock’ type hose fitting that does not require collars or clamps. If your hose requires a more aggressive type of hose barb, then we offer a 150 series and sometimes our 250 series will also provide the type of connection that you are looking for. It is best to contact our sales department to discuss your particular requirements.
NPT stands for National Pipe Taper. Tapered threads used to join pipes and hoses, creating a seal through thread deformation. Used in industrial, plumbing and air hose. Aerocom’s hydraulic fittings are made with NPTF threads
In order to determine if a thread is JIC or SAE, you would measure the angle, a 37° flare is JIC, a 45° flare is SAE. However certain sizes are interchangeable (including -4, -8, -10, -16), -6 and -12 are not interchangeable.
The dash size for JIC / ORB adapter threads is the size in sixteenths of an inch example -6 (or #6) is 6/16” = 3/8”. In hydraulics or pneumatics, the dash size corresponds to the hose ID or hose fittings that it would connect to.
NPT or NPTF threads require Teflon tape to be applied before threading the two components together. JIC and SAE ORB do not require Teflon tape as they seal on the flare or the O-ring.
Yes, we can. Let us know about your application and requirements (end fittings, hose). We will also perform a hydrostatic test on most assemblies before they get shipped out. They go through final inspection before they are released for shipping as well.
Generally, we use the 2% rules for overall length tolerances. If you require other tolerances, please specify when requesting a quote and on your purchase order.
By specifying the angular orientation (twist) between the two ends of the hose, which will ensure the hose bends naturally without twisting.
